Comic Book Reviews
We’ve got you covered when it comes to comic book reviews! We destroy the badly written comics and criticize comics with poor art. We go in depth with our reviews, dissecting the art, the writing, and the people behind the comic books. Our main focus is on more independent comics, rather than the big name Marvel and DC imprints. Hint: Image Comics is one of our favorites.
Comic books deserve just as much respect as any 300 page novel. You’re talking about making visual art and written word work together to tell an effective story. It’s not just painting/illustration and it’s not just writing. It’s both of them together, wielded as effectively as possible.
Respect the work it takes to create a comic book. It isn’t just drawing pictures to match the words. Unless you like a terribly executed comic book.
How We Review Comics
There’s more to comics than just whether you liked the story or not. There’s a whole team that produces the art, the colors, the lettering, and the writing then they have to work out how it all fits together.
If you’d like to learn some more in-depth questions you can ask when reading a comic book (and questions that we refer to when we read) then check out our resource guide on the techniques of comic review.
